Research on Vitamin C and Angiomyolipomas
by: Brian

Hi Mary,

I did not find much on Vitamin C and angiomyolipomas. You should definitely seek that advice of your physician before taking high doses of any vitamin, especially with your angiomyolipoma condition. I found one research article concerning use of Vitamin C after renal failure following a bilateral nephrectomy due to bleeding angiomyolipomas. This article showed a negative impact of asorbic acid in the patient's case, but this was after the fact with regard to the removal of the tumor. See the article here: Brian J. Nankivell, M.D., Ph.D., and Karumathil M. Murali, M.D., New England Journal of Medicine 2008; 358:e4January 24, 2008DOI: 10.1056/NEJMicm070984 http://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMicm070984#t=article. Bottom Line: I could not find any study supporting the idea that a high dose of Vitamin C could help, so do more research and, as always, follow the advice of your doctor.
