Oral Herpes Symptoms and Natural Treatment

I was wondering if you have ever heard of people having issues with their lips of tingling along lip line, pin prick sensations, burning, chapping, oozing wetness, crusting over, then just going through the cycle again and again?

My 24 yr old daughter and I have been trying to deal with this. Me for over a year, my daughter since October of '08.

We've seen five doctors and none can figure it out.

We both started the DrNatura cleanse you recommend just this morning.

We both have always been good eaters - raw, non processed foods. We don't share cosmetics or body products. I had a physical and all came out all good.

Now I'm going to allergist - I'm not allergic to any foods - but I'm going to do a patch test for contact allergies the week after next. My daughter is also having blood work and a physical done.

The only connection is we both fell, got an infected abrasion, me on my knee, her on her arm. But we fell a year apart and in totally different places. Both of our abrasions got all oozy with almost the same blisters that we sometimes get on the lips, which also ooze.

Maybe you have suggestions for us? Thank you so very much.

Oh, and I love your web site. Thank you for such useful information.

ANSWER

Hi Tara,

First of all thank you for the compliments about my site.

Now, about your health issues. It certainly sounds like cold sores from Herpes Simplex Virus-1 (oral herpes symptoms). But it would be odd that your doctor(s) would not be able to make this diagnosis...

Aren't these your exact symptoms?

Before a cold sore appears, the lip area will sometimes tingle, feel slightly raised, red and inflamed. You'll notice this 1 to 2 days before the cold sore appears.

It will start out as a small, fluid-filled blister on the lip or mouth area. The blister will usually weep and form a scab or crust over before healing and going away.

The cold sore outbreak can last from 8 to 14 days.

This virus is very common and highly contagious. You could have given it to your daughter by simply sharing food or beverages.

A natural treatment to suppress the virus (and prevent future outbreaks)is the amino acid lysine (see amino acid supplements for more info). At 1-3 grams per day, lysine interferes with the virus' ability to obtain nutrition.

Also get your vitamin D levels checked. Adequate amounts of vitamin D will keep the outbreaks from reoccurring.

I hope this information was helpful. I know how frustrating not knowing can be.

Wishing you the best of health,

Melissa
