All Natural Kidney Cleanse Methods

human organs with kidneys emphasized

Our kidneys work hard for us every day. A kidney cleanse gives these organs of detoxification a much needed rest so they can function optimally again.

And when each kidney functions at its best, they are key players in supporting our immune system and overall health.

So how do we know when a cleanse would be beneficial?

The usual telltale signs are any or all of the following:

  • unexplained lower back pain
  • edema (holding excess water weight anywhere in the body)
  • kidney stones
  • urinary tract infections

So how do we go about kidney cleansing?

Ideally, we would not have to worry about kidney detox. After all, keeping the kidneys healthy isn't that difficult. Yet most of us are not providing even the most basic need for proper kidney function. And what might that be?

Water. Our kidneys need water - and a lot of it. We need about half our body weight in ounces every day.

So if you weigh 150 pounds, you need to drink 75 ounces of water per day. And not just any kind of water. It needs to be purified or filtered to remove the many chemicals that are found in our public water supply.

We also need to limit processed foods. Raw fruits and vegetables (and their juices) are a tremendous relief to our kidneys, as is juice fasting.

Eating a lot of watermelon over the course of a day is another great way to support the kidneys and dissolve kidney stones. You can also juice the watermelon and, if you do, be sure to juice the rind as well for added benefit.

Other foods and supplements that support kidney detox are cranberries, parsley, aloe vera, wheatgrass, cucumber, celery, vitamin C, vitamin B6, juniper berries, marshmallow root, ginger root, wild carrot, and uva ursi.
