Natural Colon Cleansing
When thinking about natural colon cleansing, one should realize that the colon isn't an organ of detoxification.
The colon, or large intestine, is designed to absorb water, salts, and some vitamins from solid wastes before they are eliminated. That's about it.
So why it is so important is a natural body detox program? (Actually, it's not just important, it's CRITICAL!)
Because when we speed up the rate at which toxins are released, they only have a few places to escape the body - the skin, lungs, kidneys, and colon.
A clean colon makes it easier for these poisons to escape.
Think your colon is already clean? Think again. Most of us are carrying around an extra 10-15 pounds of toxic fecal matter!
Might you be one? Here are some questions for you:
- How much fiber do you eat on any given day?
Most of us eat very little fiber every day. Certainly no where near the 20 - 30 grams that is recommended.
- How many servings of raw fruits and vegetables do you consume?
Again, most people eat very little raw food. These foods help keep our colon clean.
- How many processed foods do you eat?
This goes hand in hand with the last two questions. Processed foods have very little fiber (and little nutrition). Filling up on these clogs our colon and colon detox becomes critical.
- How many bowel movements do you have per week?
Now I'm really getting personal. You should be having at least one, ideally two or three, bowel movements PER DAY. Think of a baby. They eat - they poop. Now that's a clean digestive system!
- Do your bowel movements pass easily or do you have to strain?
Straining is the result of too little fiber and not enough healthy bacteria in your gut. The end result - toxic sludge stuck to your colon walls.
- How much water do you drink per day?
Drinking at least 2 liters of water per day helps our bodies in every way. It also helps move food along through our digestive tract.
So, how did you do? Sure this stuff isn't for polite conversation, but it is important to answer honestly. Is your body telling you it's time for a natural colon cleansing program?
Your colon is your body's sewer system. If you don't keep your sewer clean, you have little hope for good health.
Not eating enough fiber everyday is like trying to clean your dirty dishes with just water and a sponge. Fiber is like soap for your colon. You need it to get a truly thorough clean.
